Geology is the study of the Earth’s history, materials and processes to understand its past, present and future. Geologists analyse rocks, minerals and fossils to locate natural resources such as oil, gas and minerals; assess environmental impacts; and predict geological hazards such as earthquakes and landslides. They work in diverse settings, including working in the field, in laboratories and in offices, and collaborate with Engineers, Environmental Scientists and Policymakers.

Careers in geology offer opportunities in industries such as natural resource exploration, environmental consulting, government agencies and research institutions.
